Jan Schuster-Callus

My name is Jan Callus and I was born in North Dakota, USA and live in Sydney Australia.

I started painting while in Junior High school with an amazing elderly nun who taught me to "See".

After a few years at a teachers college in ND, I moved to Scotland and applied and was accepted

to the City & Guilds Art School in Kennington, London England,

finishing with a Certificate and Advance Certificate in Lettering and Printmaking.

Harvey

My studio is in the St George area of Sydney Australia
where I live with my husband and
Harvey, my painting buddy.

My medium is mostly oils but work in watercolours and pen and ink.
Children on the beach playing,
grandpa with his granddaughter,
a mother with her children,
a child looking in wonder at the sea.
Australian birds in a palm tree,
a sparking waterfall,
penguins on the march.
I like capturing life as we live it, not posed.
Sans Souci area has been the inspiration for most of my paintings
as well as Carrss Park, Cronulla and my own backyard.

I started silver jewellery making through TAFE and found another great interest in designing jewellery,
winning ribbons the last four years at the Easter Show.
